Her Campus at PSU x Indie Lee Collab

For our November bonding meeting, Her Campus at PSU hosted a master class featuring Indie Lee, the founder of her namesake skincare company. Indie Lee is the mother of one of our members and a friend, Emily Agona who helped prepare for this amazing event.

In 2008 Indie Lee was diagnosed with a rare brain tumor and given six months to live. This was a wake-up call to Lee that her life was far from over and she would live it to the fullest. After a successful surgery removing her tumor on Earth Day 2009, Lee opened her own company.

Indie Lee is "committed to creating change and building a like-minded community, Indie Lee is grounded in nature, supported through science, and inspired by life." Lee learned that it was the products she used on her face that caused her tumor. She vowed to make a skincare company that had safe ingredients, cute packaging and would educate others on healthy products.

Lee was one of the pioneers the clean beauty industry, as many companies were not focused on clean, safe ingredients in the late 2000s. The company is thriving today having products in Ulta, Bluemercury, Nordstrom, Amazon and more.

The Her Campus at PSU masterclass consisted of Lee and Agona walking our members through a skincare routine with trial-size Indie Lee products. We learned what types of products works best on what skin types. Lee described each ingredient in her products outlining the benefits and safeness of each.

I absolutely adored the brightening cleanser that came with strawberry seed oil for the most beautiful smell! One qoute that stuck out to me was Lee advising us to "do not let others baggage decide what your life is."

I am so thankful to Lee and Agona for creating this masterclass that was so thoughtful, informational and fun. I have already implemented Indie Lee into my everyday skincare routine and will be an advocate for the company moving forward!
